Starto: Day 1 - Thur - 13 July 06 - 1400 hrs - Sg - Excited
The trip is here finally! A trip to get out of Singapore, freed from the 66.6% gahment, freed from rising public transport fees, freed from whatever bad cheesepies you can think of la. This is my virgin trip aboard, without my family's company. No doubt I can take care of myself, gonna be 21 soon liao lor. This time, I'm going to a country I have seen on tv on countless of occasions, all thanks to TVB's dramas. Not only I'm on a trip to a country that is amazing, I also have the company of my best friends. A pity not all the marists can make it. 7's a decent number anyway. We checked in early to jalan around the shops inside, since shopping in there is quite rare. Ended up eating Delifrance, don't ask me why..Haha.
Bert & me @ Delifrance
In valuair, signs of exhilaration noted. Or rather...signs of weiqi-ism lingers...
First time travelling on a budget airline. Overall it was quite ok, just that there are no movies, no music, no food, cramp, ugly stewardess, loud engine noise etc. It was quite alright isn't it? I tried to catch some sleep with my mp3 player blasting at full volume. Still, the engine noise proved to be the louder one. So I decided to play dai dee with my neighbours. Dave is one cheeky player. Never fail to haolian when he got damn good cards. I don't think he reads my blog so it's ok suaning him, hahahaha. The flight was around 3hr+++, we just can't wait to land on Hong Kong. However, we did not realise that something BAD is about to happen...
On the bus to airport. Yes we took the stairs down from the plane, like those footballers returning home from world cup.
My dear brother Mr Lay Shi Wei look so happy on the photo above. Never did he realise that his passport is actually not with him. (It was later found on the same plane, in Bali) First cock-up of the trip. An ultra-gargantua cock-up it was. Hahaha, our moods are definitely dampened, but we were strong and vowed not to bow to cock-ups. Gilbert advised us to retrieve all our luggages while he accompanies Shiwei to report the loss of his passport.
Told ya we are strong people. Stranded, waiting at the belt area.
I made 2 trips to the customs counter hoping to see their faces, but was only greeted by disappointment. After around 1 hr+ of waiting, Gilbert called and told us to proceed to our hotel to check in first, lest they cancel our booking. Thus, after much brilliant and shrewd discussion with Zhida, we decided to purchase the airport express ticket to Tsing Yi. Afterwhich we will switch to a train going to Lai King, and that will take us to Jordan MTR. This is the CHEAPEST route, if you are staying around Jordan area. Something to highlight. All the while, we (3 pple) were carrying a total of 5 luggages. Imagine dragging so many luggages in the middle of Nathan Street. We must have attracted lots of attention. At first Dave and I got a shock when we saw 'Evergreen Hotel water sprinklet'. It was a delapidated looking place and we actually thought it was our hotel. Lucky it was'nt, and finally we found home. Not a classy place, but definitely a nice and decent place to stay in. Most importantly, it's freaking cheap. Each of us only need to fork out around $48 per night. Beat that! Soon, Shiwei called to say that they are on their way here. Meanwhile, we went down to the 7-11 to buy some cup noodles, as hunger is about to devour us anytime. After they finally arrived, we went down to a cafe just beside our hotel, and got our long awaited dinner...first decent meal in Hong Kong. No more cock-ups please?
Roast goose rice, yummylicious
Gilbert, Dave, Zhida. All still good, fighting spirit still there.
Shiwei, apparently on high spirits after being 'released' from the airport. LOL!
After dinner, we went back to the hotel to unpack and bathe. Although I'm damn tired, I could not fall asleep. Only went to dreamland after tossing on the bed till around 4+am.
